Volunteers and Events The word ‘foundation’ means basis, which to us, is synonymous with ‘volunteers.’ The dictionary might not agree with that, but along with our donors and contributors, volunteers form the basis of the Big Stone Health Care Foundation. Our mission to provide quality health care to the surrounding area simply could not be accomplished without the many hours put in by our volunteers. Whether they are serving on the Board of Directors, helping to mail out brochures, on a committee, performing clerical tasks or promoting the Foundation, we count on our volunteers’ talents and generosity, and consider them a major factor in the realization of our goals. In 2003, the Big Stone Health Care Foundation became an RSVP-Volunteers United Volunteer Station. RSVP-Volunteers United is an excellent resource for us to find volunteers and an excellent program for the volunteers. Since the Foundation is an eligible volunteer station, RSVP-VU provides insurance and meal and mileage reimbursement, as well as recognition for each volunteer. Through our partnership with RSVP-Volunteers United, the Foundation has been able to accomplish many things, but more importantly, it has benefited from the talents and friendship of our volunteers.
